Nozawa Onsen

Nozawa Onsen is famous for the huge amount of hot springs (onsen). There are more than 30 hot springs, 13 of which are public hot spring baths known as Sotoyu. The hottest is the Ogama spring where the water temperature reaches about 90° C (194° F).

Dosojin Fire Festival, Nozawa
Dating back to 1863, the Dosojin Fire Festival, held on January 15 every year, is one of the three most famous fire festivals in Japan. The reason for the festival is to pray for a plentiful harvest, health and good fortune in the coming year.
