Seven Samurai (Shichinin no Samurai) is about a poor village under attack by bandits recruits seven unemployed samurai to help them defend themselves. This film was remade as a Western in The Magnificent Seven.
It is often cited as the top movie to come out of Japan and inspired a whole generation of spaghetti westerns, samurai films and many other genres around the world. Kurosawa’s film making has influenced many of the best directors around the world.
