<p>There was a fairly big crack in the road from the March 11 quake, just a few minutes walk from Yokohama station. I walked past it last Sunday. Apparently over 30000 people died in the Yokohama area in the great kanto earthquake in 1923. scary thought! </p>
<p>They closed the area off and are now rebuilding it. </p>
<p>I saw the video footage of Yokohama during the quake and it seemed to shake a liitle harder than my office bldg in central Tokyo, perhaps because its on reclaimed land. </p>
