Infomapjapan, run by a vancouver publishing company, is a Japan travel site with loads of information on the best sightseeing spots in Japan, including information on onsens, accommodation information, maps,  optional tours and more. Infomap is also a free magazine providing information on Japan which comes out quarterly. I recommend grabbing a copy if you are a visitor to Japan.

Onsen Blog is an onsen focused blog created by a Japanese national by the name of Sonoe san. She provides useful information on onsens such as price, type of onsen, accessibility, atmosphere etc.  She also has an interesting Q&A section where she gives informative answers to questions such as ‘Where would be an ideal location visit as a day trip from Tokyo?’ and ‘Can I go in an onsen privately’?

Kusatsu Onsen, as the name suggests, focuses on onsens in the Kusatsu area. They have a load of information on Kusatsu Onsens and things to see and do in the Kusatsu area. Other than the onsens, some of the other things to do there are hiking, skiing and general sightseeing around the picturesque town.

The Nara Prefecture site is created by Nara prefectural government and provides information on a wide variety of topics relating to Nara and its surrounds. The tourism section is particularly good and has detailed information on parks, transportation, temples, accommodation, events, hot springs (onsens), annual events, arts and crafts and local delicacies.

Sentoguide.com is a site created by a foreigner living in Japan wanting to provide information to other foreigners about the local sentos. SentoGuide only focuses on the smaller public baths located in local neighbourhoods, as well as some larger chains of  sento.

At the time of this article the site had just over 550 sentos listed in the database.
