A pretty cool ad by JR on how not to sit on trains in Tokyo.

There was a fairly big crack in the road from the March 11 quake, just a few minutes walk from Yokohama station. I walked past it last Sunday. Apparently over 30000 people died in the Yokohama area in the great kanto earthquake in 1923. scary thought!
They closed the area off and are now rebuilding it.
I saw the video footage of Yokohama during the quake and it seemed to shake a liitle harder than my office bldg in central Tokyo, perhaps because its on reclaimed land.

Before the earthquake there was always an abundance of milk but they are all being snapped up in the morning these days.

I went in search for water today in Tokyo but couldn’t find any. I even went to a few old vending machines on the back streets near my office but alas they were all sold out of water. The government told everyone not to panick but i don’t think they listened. I guess I’ll have to make do with pocari sweat for a while.
I haven’t checked the radiation level today but i haven’t turned green yet so suppose it’s ok..

My train this morning around 9am at Osaki station. Commuters seem to be back in force in Tokyo.

A lot of people in Tokyo are stocking up with the earthquake and Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant problems. But, if you are after chocolate, ice-cream or alcohol Tokyo is the place to be. This is my local supermarket – one side of the shelf which usually has bread and other daily goods is completely empty, but wine is in abundance.

After walking several hours last friday i finally made it to shinagawa station. This was the massive taxi line. It was actually faster to walk so im not sure if getting a taxi was the right thing to do.

This guy was either too tired to make it out of the station or didn’t quite make it to the platform for the last train on friday night

My mate is a bit of a beer enthusiast and he has a few interesting beers. This beer pretends to be japanese but its actually from oregan, usa.
The fu..ing hell one is a light pilsener from Austria.

I stayed in this cheap and slightly nasty hotel in chofu. I think the promotional pamphlet should have read ‘for your benefit’…

On the way home from work i pass this shop every now and then. This is a golf shop in Shimbashi that gives away some of their 2nd clubs for free.

Another very cool app I discovered recently is the Pro HDR camera app, which basically merges two shots of different exposure (one light and one dark) together. This and the Autostich app I mentioned before are my two most commonly used camera apps on my ipod touch.
The shots below were taken with my ipod touch using Pro HDR.
It was raining half the day when I took this shot – this is Kamikouchi again

I’ve always been interested in taking Panorama shots but taking them one by one and stitching them in photoshop or with other software can take a bit of time. I tried a number of apps on Android and on the Apple App store. After looking at every app out there the only one that lived up to the hype was Autostitch. Autostitch allows you to stitch together any number of photos – most importantly it does it quickly and accurately. This and the Pro HDR App are my two most commonly used Photo Apps. Below are some of my recent shots taken with my ipod touch.
The photo below is about 14 shots stitched together. As long as you have about 30% overlap on each shot the software does the rest. You select the photos you want and then press ‘stitch’. This shot is in Kamikouchi, Nagano.

I recently went to Korea and took some panorama shots.
